Germany Assigns High Priority to Cooperation with Kazakhstan |

Wednesday, 7 May 2008 "German federal government assigns high priority to cooperation with Kazakhstan," External Economy Vice Minister, Director of External Economic Policy Department of German Economics and Technology Ministry Karl-Ernst Brauner said at the Kazakh-German economic forum, Kazinform reports.
The speaker noted that Germany considers Kazakhstan along with Russia as a stable and successful state in economic sphere. "Successful republic development bases not only on raw stock. The country realizes purposeful reformative policy and turns to the market economy. It conducts clever policy with its neighbors. Kazakhstan remains a stabilizing regional factor. The republic is open to the West, cooperates with China and realizes independent policy with Russia. Being the most actively developing country of Central Asia, Kazakhstan, occupies important place in the strategy for Central Asia worked out by the European Union in June 2007 under the German chairmanship in the union," K-E. Brauner said.
The speaker informed that Germany supports Kazakhstan's future chairmanship in OSCE in 2010.
"Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev perfectly understands that future of his country is being up not only to oil and gas, therefore, the purpose was given ÔÇô Kazakhstan must be in the list of the 50 most competitive countries of the world. The index of our bilateral cooperation shows it. Trade turnover increased by 17, 5% in 2007, currently it amounts to 5, 5 billion euro", he added.
It was also emphasized that Kazakhstan is going to diversify its economy and is being in strategic purchase. It is the transportation corridor between Europe and Asia. "Thereby the state deserves more attention of German economics representatives. We support Kazakh investments and business in Germany. There are a lot of areas of common interests between our countries and now we intensify our cooperation," K-E. Brauner concluded.
