Burma has released a partial list of voters for the country's upcoming constitutional referendum, which includes the name of detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Local government offices began posting voter lists Friday for the controversial, nationwide May 10 referendum.

Aung San Suu Kyi's name was on a list for her home township. It is unclear how the Nobel laureate will be allowed to leave her home and cast her ballot. She has been detained for 12 of the past 18 years and is currently under house arrest.

Aung San Suu Kyi's deputy in the opposition National League for Democracy, Tin Oo, is also listed as an eligible voter. Tin Oo also is under house arrest.

Next Saturday's referendum will be the first voting in Burma since the National League for Democracy won a landslide victory in 1990.

Burma's military leaders never recognized the results of that race and instead put Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest.

Burma's military rulers say approval of the constitution will pave the way for general elections in 2010. Critics argue that the charter will only guarantee the military's continued control of Burma's politics.

The National League for Democracy is urging voters to cast a "no" ballot in the referendum.
