President appoints new mayor of Samarkand region

Extraordinary session of people's deputies of Samarkand region was held on 15 April. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov spoke at the meeting, Region.uz reported.

The session considered an organizational issue. Uktam Barnoev has been appointed the khokim (mayor) of Samarkand region. Prior to the appointment Barnoev held the post of First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Management.

At the post of the Samarkand region mayor Uktam Barnoev replaced Azamkhon Bahromov.
