President resolves to celebrate 90th anniversary of National University |

Friday, 11 April 2008On 9 April 2008, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a Resolution "On celebrating the 90th anniversary of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek".
The document was signed taking into account the big role and enormous contribution one of the most prestigious and leading higher educational institutions of our country and entire Central Asian region ÔÇô the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek - to the cause of raising the intellectual and spiritual potential of youth, developing the native science and culture, modern educational system, training the highly qualified cadres, bringing up our young men and women in the spirit of patriotism and respect towards universal values, as well as with an aim to worthily celebrate the 90th anniversary of establishment of this educational institution.
The President approved the proposal by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the National University of Uzbekistan in September 2008.
The organizational committee has one week to draft the plan of events on the occasion of celebrating this date and in this it shall pay a special attention to holding them in organic combination with the goals and objectives set in the State program "Year of youth".
An international scientific conference on the "Role of the National University in developing the system of higher education and science in Uzbekistan" will be held at the high level in August 2008, in line with the resolution.
A festival of students of higher educational institutions under the slogan "Youth is a decisive force of our today and tomorrow" will be held at the "Yoshlik" student township stadium in September 2008.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked that during the preparation to festive events it should organize on the territory of complex of the National University of Uzbekistan the works on large-scale construction and reconstruction, repairs and refurbishment, full improvement and betterment of study corps, student hostels and other facilities of social infrastructure.
