Turkish Senior Columnist: Turks are Stupid |

Daily Cumhuriyet's senior columnist Ilhan Selcuk harshly criticised the new headscarf law in Turkey. Mr. Selcuk also blamed the majority of Turkish voters for their clear support for the governing AK Party in the latest general elections. Ilhan Selcuk further labelled the current governing party as ÔÇÝIslamist' and ÔÇÝAmericanist' (Pro-American).
Ilhan Selcuk wrote in his latest column "Americanist Islamism policy established its political reign on its male superiority by abusing traditions with religionist understanding".
He also said "Aziz Nesin was always saying that the Turks are stupidÔÇÐ I had thought he was exaggerating. However now I understand him. If we say ÔÇÝby' to the Ataturk Revolution and follow the Arabs the History Book will note about us ÔÇÝthe Turks are stupid'."
