The people's assembly has sent a mission to the Georgian president that will inform him about claims of the united opposition, leader of the opposition rally in Tbilisi, member of "For the United Georgia" Party Giorgi Tortladze announced at the rally. According to him, opposition leaders would soon leave the protest action and five of them, Salome Zourabichvili, Levan Gachechiladze, Kakha Kukava, Tinatin Khidasheli and Konstantine Guntsadze, will deliver the petition to the president. "We shall be waiting till 06:00 p.m. for a response from the president and then we shall take measures," Tortladze said.
While speaking to the many-thousand rally near the Georgian parliament, Georgia's former foreign ministry, now leader of opposition Georgia's Way Movement, Salome Zourabichvili, announced that Georgia was given a chance to improve the situation, but it was lost, and today participants of the rally can improve everything. As Zourabichvili said, "the Georgian people claim that the parliament suspends its mandate within appropriate time, a priority election commission is established to control the election process, the one-party rule is abolished and the dialog with the government starts, and if the dialog takes place, parliamentary elections will be held in April, free elections, and everyone will take its place."
Leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili, leader of the Conservative Party Zviad Dzidziguri, member of the National Forum Kakha Shartava and others spoke at the meeting. Police placed a double cordon around the building of the Georgian parliament. Law enforcers are extending the cordoning-off area around the place of the protest action. Several people tried to break the police cordons and enter the building, but failed.
