Thursday, 17 February 2005Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) has become a leading political party in Sofia, a recent poll carried out by ASSA-M agency showed.
This happens for the first time since the start of democratic changes in the country in November 1989.
BSP gets support of 20% of the Sofia citizens, followed by ruling Simeon II National Movement (SIINM), with 11%, and the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), 9.0%.
One of the reasons for socialists' support is that they managed to make a breakthrough in the electoral structure.
Once supported mainly by aged people, BSP now attracts more and more supporters among young people and middle-aged persons. |
