Possible Shakeup at Foreign Ministry

TEHRAN ÔÇô Iran's Caspian envoy Mehdi Safari, former ambassador to Russia, is tipped to serve as the ambassador in Beijing, replacing Fereydoun Verdinejad, an informed source confirmed yesterday.


The source told IRAN NEWS Ahmad Azizi, a senior Foreign Ministry official, will go to Ottawa to replace the incumbent ambassador Mohammad Mousavi. Deputy Foreign Minister Gholam-Ali Khoshroui is successor-in-waiting to Iran's ambassador in Rome.

Moreover, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi is likely to serve as Iran's ambassador in Germany.
