Thursday, 17 February 2005Islamic militants under investigation for allegedly planning an attack on the Russian Embassy in Paris had other targets on their list, too, including the Eiffel Tower, police and judicial officials said Wednesday.
Israeli targets, a clothing store in central paris and police stations were also envisaged, the officials said, citing alleged confessions by three men arrested last month.
The men, all Algerians, were detained January 11 in conneciton with an investigation opened in November 2002 into a network of Islamic radicals supporting Chechen rebels, the officials said. |
