Friday, 22 June 2007Norway wishes to see Macedonia as NATO member
Norway in principle has been supporting the policy of NATO enlargement and wishes to see Macedonia as the Alliance's member, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki said Friday after meeting his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store.
At the meeting, Norwegian officials extended open support of Macedonia's reforms for meeting the necessary membership standards and praised the country's participation in NATO-led missions, Milososki told MIA.
It is also significant that Macedonia has becoming interesting for Norwegian businessmen, Milososki said, expressing belief that concrete results in this respect will be tangible by the yearend.
Earlier today, Milososki had a meeting with members of the Norwegian Parliament's Foreign Policy Committee, focused on Macedonia's road to NATO and its constructive role in the region's stabilization.
Milososki is also scheduled to meet Deputy Defence Minister Espen Barth Eide, as well as to hold informal meetings with Macedonia's Honorary Consul to Norway Knut Odegard and a representative of Norwegian Association of Small & Medium Companies.
