The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has approved the application of the +çalık Energy-Indian Oil consortium for the construction of a refinery in Adana's Ceyhan region, a terminal for Central Asian and Middle Eastern oil and natural gas and a key location in Turkey's plans to become an energy corridor.
EPDK President Yusuf G+-nay announced their decision on refinery license applications at the opening of the 13th International Energy, Cogeneration and Environmental Technologies Conference and Exhibition, which was held in İstanbul's L+-tfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center Wednesday. Three groups had filed documents with the EPDK asking permission to establish billion-dollar refineries. G+-nay said they decided to turn down an application for a Socar-Turcas joint venture until they provided additional necessary documents. He didn't mention the application from the third consortium made up of Petrol Ofisi (POAŞ) and Austrian OMV.
