ANKARA - Deniz Baykal, head of the Turkish main opposition party CHP (Republican People's Party), claimed that the PKK terrorists are backed by the Iraqi Kurdish authorities. Mr. Baykal gave a speech at TOBB meeting:
"The Northern Iraq authorities deny terrorism Turkey faced today, they do not define what Turkey confront today as terrorism. They say ÔÇÝthis is a political problem'. What, a political problem? They want to separate the state, they want to destroy the country. Their principle is ethnic discrimination. They put mines, they use any means of attacks, their main principle is making assassinations. They apply terror and violence to children, women, innocent people, civilians. However those (he means Barzani and Talabani groups) say that ÔÇÝall are not our business'. So what will we do then? They say ÔÇÝnegotiate with the terrorists'. The Northern Iraq protects the PKK. They let the PKK to establish its terror base there. They give guns, bombs etc. The PKK makes its attack plans in Northern Iraq, and the Iraqi Kurdish authorities allow them to enter Turkey to do their violent attacks. This is an enemy behavior against Turkey".
