Attorney General Akin Sait says 60 days should elapse from the original date for the start of the search for a new government before the general elections.
Constitutional period for general elections
Attorney General in a written statement yesterday said 60 days should elapse before the general elections from the date of the original beginning of the search of the formation of a new government. This was stipulated clearly by the constitution. The only other way of abrogating the parliament and renew the election is through parliamentary decision. That could only be achieved by the vote of the absolute majority in the parliament. Under the circumstances, 60-day period comes to an end on 20th of December as the President originally asked Dr. Eroglu, leader.
