Ankara offers to help Arafat

The head of the Palestine state Yasser Arafat has been described as being in a critical condition by doctors attending him.

October 28ÔÇö The Turkish Foreign Ministry has sent message offering any assistance possible to Yasser Arafat, the ailing leader of the Palestinian Authority.

Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul send the message through Ankara's Jerusalem Embassy offering to provide any help that may be required, including doctors or medical equipment.
The 74 year old Arafat has been described as being in a critical condition, lapsing into unconsciousness after being placed under doctors' supervision with an undisclosed ailment. He has refused offers of being flown to a hospital outside of Palestine for fear of Israel refusing to allow him to return after treatment.
