The relations with the US represent a highest priority for Macedonia, said Thursday Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski during the meeting with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo.

As President Cabinet's press release reads, Crvenkovski expressed a belief that Macedonia's strong and permanent commitment for building partnership relations with the US in the forthcoming period would be confirmed, expressing expectation for intensifying of cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest.

DiCarlo expressed gratitude to Macedonia for its engagement and contribution in establishing a democracy and security in the world, as well as in fight against global terrorism, demonstrated in its peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She congratulated for the European Commission's positive avis, expressing hope that Macedonia will acquire the candidate status for the EU membership in December.

Crvenkovski and DiCarlo also exchange opinions on regional issues. They both agreed that the solutions on latest issues in the region should not cause any changes of borders, but to produce permanent peace, security and prosperity.
