Wednesday, 23 November 2005Macedonia represents a factor that will push the rest of Western Balkans' countries towards the European Union, the Vice-president of the European Commission and Commissioner on Justice, Freedom and Security, Franco Frattini said Wednesday after the meeting with Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva in Brussels.
Mitreva initiated the visa regime issue for Macedonian citizens and Frattini announced that the European Commission in the beginning of the next year would prepare an Action Plan for facilitating the visa regime, separately for every country, depending on their progress on the road towards the EU.
As MIA's correspondent reports, the facilitation will be applied only for students, businessmen, journalists and employees in the sphere of science and education.
FM Mitreva informed Frattini that in the Government's agenda of priorities were the changes of electoral legislation, in which the recommendations of OSCE/ODIHR would be included. He said that for Macedonia it was important to implement the judiciary reforms.
Frattini committed for more intensive cooperation between SEE countries in the fight against the organized crime, saying that it is not only a problem for Macedonia, but it is a regional problem.
Meeting European Commission's Vice-president, FM Mitreva ended her visit to Brussels.
