Croatian and Montenegrin ministers of the interior met in Zagreb on Tuesday to sign an agreement on cooperation envisaging coordination of activities in fighting organised crime and illegal migrations.
Minister Jusuf Kalemperovic of Montenegro said that the two countries' police forces would work on the exchange of data and experience, which he said would also help them on their way to the European Union.

"Montenegro wants to have good relations and cooperation with all countries in the region once it becomes an independent state," the minister said.

The agreement is aimed at preventing illegal migrations and trade along the Balkan route, Minister Kirin of Croatia said. He added that he would also seek assistance from Montenegro in discovering the perpetrators of recent robberies in Croatia.

The minister also said that Croatia would modernise the border crossing of Debeli Brijeg on the border with Montenegro as part of efforts to fight crime.
