Wednesday, 23 November 2005There's a genuine interest and hunger for quality MBA programmes amongst business executives in the UAE, according to Mr. Hormoz Ahmadzadeh, Corporate Development Manager at Manchester Business School Worldwide (MBSW), who was speaking after presenting the business school's programmes at open information sessions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, last week.
'Our MBA for construction executives, our latest MBA programme, attracted a lot of interest here - both from employers and prospective students - which is what we had expected, considering the very high level of activity within the industry here.'
Manchester Business School Worldwide will open its third international centre, in Dubai, in 2006. MBSW is currently looking for a suitable location in Dubai, which will welcome its first intake of students for its MBA programmes in January 2006. The school already operates centres in Singapore and Hong Kong and affiliate centres in Jamaica and Ireland.
'The Middle East region, with Dubai at its hub, is rapidly emerging as an important business centre and the establishment of our third international centre in Dubai is recognition of this. We are also working to facilitate students into our MBA programmes here, so we are offering scholarships covering 25 per cent of the programme costs to selected students enrolling at the Dubai centre,' said Mr. Ahmadzadeh.
More than 35 executives attended the two MBSW information sessions and the quality of questioning reflected the serious level of interest: 'The people attending the sessions were well informed and very interested in the blended method of learning we offer, which includes around 250 hours of face to face contact with MBSW faculty - close to the level of contact for the full-time MBA. The executives wanted to know about the distinctive benefits of the MBSW programmes and the convenience of distance learning - the questions were full of insight and we were able to reassure them on all these points.' MBS is triple accredited and has an alumni network of over 7,000 graduates worldwide and a career services department which maintains relationships with 5,000 companies, and can help graduates plan their next career steps.
'Manchester Business School is ranked number one in the world for 'alumni aims achieved' according to the 2005 FT Rankings of business schools. The business school owns it own distance learning arm which guarantees quality control and we award exactly the same masters degrees to distance learning students as for our full-time, campus students,' added Mr Ahmadzadeh.
MBSW will return to the UAE in December 2005 to participate in the MBA Fair, at which the CEO, Mr Nigel Banister, will conduct a further information session covering all the distance learning MBA programmes offered by Manchester Business School Worldwide, which include the MBA for Engineering Business Managers, MBA for Financial Managers and Finance Professionals, and MBS' unique MBA for Construction Executives,
Manchester Business School's full-time MBA programme is currently ranked fifth (2005) in the UK and MBS' latest (2003) Financial Times Distance Learning MBA ranking is sixth in the world. Manchester Business School holds triple MBA accreditation - AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB.
