ANKARA - Commenting on this week's controversy about Roj-TV, which sparked a crisis during Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Denmark visit, US Charge d'Affaires Nancy McEldowney said that the US was continuing its efforts to persuade European Union member states to halt the broadcasts of such television channels and other PKK sympathizers which give financial support to the PKK terrorist group. According to Milliyet newspaper, McEldowney said that the US is not happy with the EU policies regarding the PKK activities in EU countries. Particularly the PKK propaganda activities should be halted in the EU countries.
The Roj TV, the PKK's TV channel, broadcasts from denmark. The previous PKK tv stations were broadcasting from UK and France, yet both states banned the MED and MEDYA TVs. Germany banned some of the PKK media organisations. However many PKK activities continue under the name of 'media' or 'NGO' in the EU countries.
