17 August 2012Turkish daily newspapers on Friday covered the Turkish national who was kidnapped in Lebanon and Al-Assad regime's continuous attacks on community. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
All Turkish dailies covered the latest developments following Al-Assad forces' air attack on Azaz town and bomb attack on civilians who were in queue to get bread in the Qadi Askar neighbourhood of Aleppo. Daily ZAMAN headlined "Massacre at bread queue" and published that more than 75 people were killed during both attacks. They also briefly touched onto Turkish President Abdullah Gul's statement at the OIC conference in Mecca and quoted him as saying, "If we receive any PKK related threats from northern Syria, then we will stage a military operation."
Another topic which was covered by most of the Turkish dailies was the Turkish citizen kidnapped in Lebanon. Tufan Tekin who was abducted in Lebanon on Wednesday alongside a group of Syrian men was threatened with his life by the Lebanese clan. Turkish daily MILLIYET headlined "We will kill the Turk first" and daily said that Tekin went to Lebanon for a business trip and the daily quoted that Tekin who spoke on television as saying, "I am all good." |
