Polish President Thanks ROC for Setting Polish-Russian Dialogue on Track |
17 August 2012Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was received on Thursday by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski. The meeting was the culmination of the first day of the Patriarch’s visit to Poland.
Komorowski expressed confidence that “the two countries’ churches could greatly contribute to Polish-Russian rapprochement.”
He thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for its efforts to establish a dialogue. "Relying on strong faith, and the Grace of God, I have no doubt that discord and resentment will become a thing of the past," said the patriarch.
A joint appeal of the Polish Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches to the peoples of the two countries, calling for reconciliation, shall be signed in Warsaw on Friday. The Patriarch will end his visit on August 19.

Previously, a head of the Russian Orthodox Church never visited a country where a dominating majority of the population is Roman Catholic. |
