Some 8.6 million people were employed in the republic's economy in July 2012, the Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan said.
"Compared to the same period of last year, their number increased by 137,100 people or 1.6 percent. Number of wage workers in this period amounted to 5.8 million people (68.1 percent of total number of employed people)," the Agency said.
At the same time, according to the Statistics Agency, the number of the unemployed in July 2012 was 469,200 people, while unemployment rate - 5.2 percent. Officially, as of late July 2012, the number of people registered in employment offices of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry of Kazakhstan hit 62,900 (excluding those included in the participants of "Employment Programme 2020"). Share of registered unemployed people hit 0.7 percent of the economically active population (in July 2011 - 0.7 percent).
It is estimated that in July 2012 the level of concealed unemployment rate was 0.3 percent of the economically active population.
