Turkmenistan Masters Galkynysh in Order to Increase Gas Exports |

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted at a government meeting that the timely commissioning of major gas fields, including Galkynysh is provided by the strategic plans to steadily increase the supply of energy resources to world markets, the Turkmen government said on Thursday.
The meeting discussed the measures taken to improve the pace of the gas field Galkynysh construction, located in the Mary region with total resources, estimated within the 26.2 trillion cubic meters by local geologists and British GCA.
The Turkmen leader noted that "the timely implementation of projects in this area is provided by the strategic plans of Turkmenistan on the steadily increasing the supply of Turkmen energy resources to international markets, as well as the diversification of export routes."
Berdymuhamedov demanded that the top managers of Fuel and Energy Complex to provide all the necessary measures to implement projects in strictly designated dates and at the highest level of quality that should ensure a successful and long-term operation of constructed facilities for decades.
The Turkmengaz state concern deals with the first stage of industrial development of Galkynysh field. It signed service contracts worth $9.7 billion in total with Gulf Oil & Gas Fze, Petrofac International LLC (UAE), NPC Chuanging Drilling Engineering Company (PRC) and Consortium of LG Internatinal Cоrp and Hyudai Engineering (South Korea) in December 2009.
Turkmenistan is one of the largest exporters of gas in the Caspian region and at this stage has the ability to export natural gas to China, Iran and Russia. The extra pipeline to Russia (Caspian gas pipeline - through Kazakhstan), Europe (Trans-Caspian gas pipeline - Nabucco or as part of AGRI - on the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan) and India (Trans-Afghan gas pipeline via Pakistan) are among the planned pipelines from Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan plans to increase gas production to 230 billion cubic meters, much of which is intended for export in 2030 in accordance with the Development Program of Oil and Gas Industry. |
