10 August 2012Turkish daily newspapers on Friday covered Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's formal visit to Myanmar with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's spouse Emine Erdogan, the attack of PKK on a military vehicle in Foca town of Izmir and the latest developments from Syria. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
Most of Turkish dailies covered the latest developments in Syria. Dailies mentioned the heavy clashes in the city between Al-Assad's army and the opponent groups. Daily HURRIYET headlined "Hell of Aleppo" and HURRIYET's reporter said in his article, "After heavy clashes between Assad's forces and opponents, regime's fighters laid down their guns and ran away. The government's soldiers cannot enter cities via highway roads, so they keep dropping bombshells over the city by jets."
Daily ZAMAN covered Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's and Mrs. Erdogan's visit to Myanmar where Arakan Muslims have been facing violence. Daily ZAMAN focuses on the humanitarian aid distribution to the Muslim and Buddhist camps in Myanmar.
Lastly, all Turkish dailies covered on their first pages the terrorist group PKK's attack which killed one Turkish soldier and wounded 11 others with a remote-control land mine in Foca town of the western province of Izmir on Thursday. Turkish dailies covered the sensitivity and the solidarity of Turkish people. Dailies VATAN, HURRIYET, MILLIYET and other dailies published that 20 minutes after the attack 4 thousand people rushed to the local hospitals to give blood for the wounded ones. |
