Main Opposition Party Calls on Parliament to Gather on Terrorism, Syria and Iraq |
7 August 2012Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has called on the Turkish parliament to gather on August 14 for an extraordinary session to discuss the latest circumstances connected with terrorism, Syria and Iraq.
124 lawmakers from CHP made an application to convene the Turkish parliament on August 14.
The CHP's move came after attack on military outpost in the southeastern province of Hakkari at the weekend by terrorist organization PKK on late Saturday. During the attack six Turkish soldiers and two village guards were killed. 14 terrorists were also killed in the clashes with security forces in the region.
The bloody PKK attack also came amongst Turkish concerns over emerging Kurdish control over the cities of northern Syria along the Turkish border after the withdrawal of Syrian Army from these overwhelmingly Kurdish areas to fight opposition groups in Aleppo. |
