Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee Staff Approved |
23 July 2012Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has approved the staff of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Chinese Cooperation Committee and its subcommittees, an official Turkmen source said on Saturday.
Vice-Prime Minister dealing with the issues of the Turkmen oil and gas industrial complex, chemical industry and fishery Baymurad Hojamuhammedov was appointed as the head.
The document was signed to further develop bilateral relations between the countries. The first meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese committee is planned to be held in Beijing this year.
China ranks first in total foreign trade turnover with Turkmenistan. The Chinese companies operate in the Turkmen oil and gas, telecommunication, transport, agriculture, textile, chemical and food, health protection and construction industries.
The cooperation became long-term and strategic after commissioning the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China transnational gas pipeline in late 2009.
The structure of imports from China to Turkmenistan, is mainly dominated by products for industrial purposes, presented by metal products, equipment, vehicles and other positions. Turkmenistan's exports to China, excluding natural gas, are characterized by agricultural products.
At present, 37 Chinese companies that deal with 66 investment projects worth about $4.5 billion and 2.3 billion yuan operate in Turkmenistan.
According to the experts of the two countries, the volume of Turkmen natural gas delivered to China reached 30 billion cubic meters from early 2010 to July 1
2012. By the end of the year this figure will rise to 44 billion cubic meters.
Turkmengaz state concern and China National Petroleum Corporation signed a framework agreement in early summer to buy additional gas volumes. According to it, the annual purchases will increase to 65 billion cubic meters. |
