"Following Transition Period, Somalia to Take Firm Steps forward" |
18 July 2012Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag has said that following transition period in Somalia, the country would take firm steps forward.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of Civil Aviation Training Center in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu on Tuesday, Minister Bozdag said that everything was moving in a good way and getting better in the country.
Mentioning that Somalia's current situation was much better than first time he visited the country, "There are significant differences and many buildings rose in here. Civil Aviation Training Center will provide very useful services, and following its completion there will be much safer flights," said Bozdag.
Bozdag stated that they had been working on several projects to make the country more contemporary.
Noting that international aid organizations' interest was rising in the recent times in Somalia, "All of these improvements satisfy us and all of them are very pivotal for Somalia's future. Following the transition period, the country will be able to take firm steps forward," said the minister.
Bozdag stressed that Turkey's interest to Somalia was only humanistic. "There is no reason rather than that, and Turkey's assistance to this country will continue without slowing down,"Bozdag said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Somalia Abdiweli Mohamed Ali said that if anyone demands to assist his country, they should take Turkey as an example.
"I clearly call on world organizations, if they want to take an example, they can pick up Turkey. What Turkey has done in our country are obvious. We will never get tired of saying 'thank you' Turks," said Mohamed Ali.
Minister Bozdag later on Tuesday had a talk with Somalia's President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.
Bozdag said that they had an exchange of ideas on assistances and future projects during the meeting with the president.
Bozdag also attended later in the day the opening of Turkish Red Cresent's mobile food serving unit. |
