16 July 2012Turkish dailies covered in their Monday editions the intercontinental swimming race in Istanbul, Turkish PM Erdogan's plan to join the new round of deputyship and the unusual hot weather conditions from all over Turkey.
Several Turkish dailies covered the intercontinental swimming competition which took place in Istanbul. More than thousand swimmers took part in the Intercontinental Bosphorus Race by swimming from Asian part of Istanbul to European side. The US Ambassador to Turkey, several politicians, artists and athletes swam 6.5 kilometres across the Bosphorus Strait.
VATAN daily quoted Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying, "I will run for the AK Party leadership for the last time in September." Turkish PM Erdogan stated that he was getting ready for joining the new round of deputyship. If he becomes the party's leader next term, he will be running the fourth term.
Another topic that most of the Turkish dailies covered on Monday is the unusual hot weather conditions in Turkey. High temperatures hitting all around Turkey this weekend affected all age groups. Temperatures went up to 50 degrees Celsius in several cities of the country. |
