Direct Foreign Investments in Turkey's Industry up to 2.6 bln USD |
11 June 2012Direct foreign investments in Turkish industrial sector reached 2.6 billion USD in the first four months of 2012.
According to temporary figures of the Central Bank, foreign investments in Turkish industry were up 191 percent year-on-year in the first four months of 2012, and reached 2.6 billion USD.
Foreigners invested 4.2 billion USD in Turkey in the same period.
The highest direct investments in Turkey came from European countries in the first four months of 2012. Investments of European countries in Turkey totalled 3.2 billion USD. This figure was 5.8 billion USD in the same period of 2011.
Britain was the European country from which Turkey received the highest investments. British businessmen invested 1.9 billion USD in Turkey in the first four months of 2012. The Netherlands followed Britain with 456 million USD.
Around 855 million USD of foreign investments came to Turkey from Asian countries in the mentioned period. Lebanon was the Asian country that invested the most in Turkey with 365 million USD, and Malaysia came the second with 230 million USD. |
