President: Georgia Remains in Spotlight of Most Influential Forces |
7 June 2012Georgia remains in the spotlight of the most influential forces, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said at a meeting with population of Varketili district of Tbilisi last night.
He said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's long-term visit to Georgia proves it. "Clinton's visit and its duration talk about Georgia's importance for the rest of the world," Saakashvili said.
Saakashvili said that the very successful outcome of the visit was in the security sphere.
"Secretary of State for the first time after years of hesitation of the U.S. stated that the U.S. will train the Armed Forces of Georgia and will help the country to ensure defense system in the air, land and sea space," he stressed.
"It was announced that the U.S. will equip the Georgian Armed Forces also with helicopters, and work will be done in terms of other equipment," Saakashvili said.
He also touched on the importance of the establishment of free trade regime with the United States in Georgia, stressing that when the agreement is signed, the products produced in Georgia will be imported into the United States without paying customs duties. |
