President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and President of the Russian Federation Held Talks |
5 June 2012Russian President Vladimir Putin paid an official visit to our country at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov on June 4.
At the Tashkent airport, heads of Uzbekistan and Russia held a brief conversation, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
This meeting of the heads of two states was a logical continuation of Uzbek-Russian regular contacts at the highest level.
Based on mutual understanding and constructive character, the enhanced political dialogue traditionally defines long-term prospects and the most important areas of bilateral relations.
Most of the Uzbek-Russian negotiations at Kuksaroy began with an official photo of heads of states.
Cordially greeting the honorary guest, the President of Uzbekistan stressed that this meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the whole spectrum of bilateral relations and identify specific ways in which the counterparts intend to move forward for the mutual benefit.
Today, there are no unsolvable issues or some insurmountable obstacles in the relations between Uzbekistan and Russia, effective mechanisms of multilateral cooperation at the regional and international levels have been launched and implemented, there is active work within the framework of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The Russian Federation is an important economic partner of Uzbekistan, the trade relations with which are characterized by stable and dynamic development.
As a result of 2011 the trade turnover between our countries reached $6.7 billion, and increased by 9 percent compared to 2010. At the same time the two leaders expressed their interest in a radical diversification of trade and expanding areas of investment cooperation.
Traditionally, an important component of bilateral relations is longstanding and strong cultural, humanitarian and historical ties that bind our two countries and peoples. Particular attention is given to cooperation in the field of education. Today, branches of the three leading Russian universities successfully operate in Tashkent, which train highly qualified specialists.
At the meeting the counterparts exchanged views on matters of mutual interest on important regional and international issues.
The focus was made on the analysis of the state and the possible development of the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. It was noted that the establishment of peace in this country, its socioeconomic recovery will contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region.
Held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, extensive and comprehensive negotiations, important agreements reached indicate mutual interest in expanding the beneficial and time-tested cooperation, raising it to a new level for the benefit and the benefit of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Russia. |
