1 June 2012Turkish daily newspapers covered on their Friday edition Turkish football player's signing contract with Atletico Madrid, statements of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about Syria.
All newspapers wrote that Turkish soccer player Emre Belozoglu signed a two-year contract with Spain's Atletico Madrid for five million Euro. Belozoglu said that he was happy to play in the same team with Arda, another Turkish football player.
Another topic in the newspapers is Davutoglu's statements about Syria. Davutoglu said, "we have the information that Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad is using PKK elements against his own people." He added that the thing, which would escalate the security risk in Turkey, would be a wider chaos in Syria.
Newspapers also wrote Erdogan's speech during the Partners Forum for the UN Alliance of Civilizations. Erdogan said, "innocent children, who were killed in El-Houleh (in Syria) are our children too." He added that supporting the cruel meant adopting the cruelty. Erdogan also met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Ban told Erdogan that there was an ongoing civil war in Syria, and UN was concerned that the violence would spread to neighboring countries like Lebanon. Ban added that those who committed Houleh massacre should pay the price. |
