28 May 2012A Lebanese diplomat on Friday said that former Lebanese Premier Said Hariri sent a private jet to Turkey to pick up Lebanese citizens who were earlier kidnapped in Syria while returning from a religious visit to Iran.
The 11-member Lebanese group were kidnapped in Syria on May 22. The group arrived in Turkey by road and would be sent to Lebanon from Adana in the private jet.
The Lebanese group were kidnapped by Syrian opposition forces near Aleppo.
Press Officer for the Syrian General Revolution Council, Abu Hisham, said that the 17-member Lebanese group had night vision equipment and military equipment with them.
"They said they were tourists. However, when you look at the conditions in Syria, we do not think tourists would arrive in Syria," Hisham noted.
The women in the group were released earlier, Hishan also said.
