Kyrgyz President Receives Turkish Lawmakers |
14 May 2012Kyrgyzstan's president received on Monday a delegation of Turkish lawmakers who were visiting the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek.
During the meeting, President Almazbek Atambaev said Kyrgyz-Turkish relations continued to boost and Turkish President Abdullah Gul will attend the Turkish Language Speaking Countries Parliamentary Assembly to take place in Kyrgyzstan in June and Turkish Language Speaking Countries Cooperation Council Summit in August.
Atanmabaev said Kyrgyz-Turkish High Strategic Council meeting would take place this fall.
Also speaking in the meeting, Turkish lawmaker Volkan Bozkir said Turkish Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee had adopted an agreement that envisaged erasion of 51 million USD debt of Kyrgyzstan.
Bozkir said the agreement would pass from the general assembly and be ratified soon, and invited Kyrgyz lawmakers to Turkey.
Moreover, Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Asilbek Jeenbekov received the delegation, and said the Kyrgyz Parliament supported boosting cooperation between the two parliaments.
Turkish lawmakers later had a meeting with Murafaddin Sakimov, the head of Meskhetian Turks Association, at the Turkish Embassy in Bishkek.
During the meeting, Bozkir said that Meshketian Turks were a part of Turkish nation, and Turkey would help and support them.
Later speaking to AA correspondent, Bozkir said this was the first time Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee was paying a formal visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Bozkir said countries should establish closer cooperation to solve problems.
Turkish lawmakers will meet Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov on Tuesday. |
