Developments in Syria Not Positive Yet, Says Deputy PM Arinc |
3 May 2012Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Turkish government, Bulent Arinc, on Wednesday said that the developments in Syria were not positive yet.
Speaking at a press conference following Wednesday's Council of Ministers meeting, Arinc said that bloodshed in Syria continued.
The information we are receiving indicate that incidents of killing (by Syrian troops) continue in all corners of Syria, Arinc noted.
We believe that Turkey and other countries can work to convince the UN Security Council to take radical steps on Syria if the Assad regime does not implement the Annan Plan properly, Arinc stressed.
Around 25,000 Syrians are staying in Turkey after fleeing violence in their country. Turkey is providing all possible assistance to the Syrians in the country. Such assistance was appreciated by the United Nations and other countries, Arinc also said. |
