Turkey Does not Intend to Abandon Purchases of Iranian Oil |
14 March 2012Turkey's dependence on Iranian oil supplies is greater than other European countries', so Turkey does not intend to give them up, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz told reporters during an official visit to Kuwait on Tuesday, the Anatolia agency reported.
"We have very good relations with Iran and there are many joint projects. There are also plans to expand this cooperation to other projects," Yildiz said.
Yildiz noted that Turkey continues to purchase oil from Iran, as well as from 11 other countries. Turkey is also buying natural gas from five countries.
Earlier, European countries decided to impose an embargo on the supply of Iranian oil. In turn, Iran announced the termination of its oil supplies to some EU countries, without waiting for the embargo. |
