Monday, 20 February 2012ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish daily newspapers covered on their Monday editions Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's remarks over a probe into Turkey's top intelligence officers, Istanbul's prospective hosting of talks on Iran's nuclear program, and European Union invitation to Turkish foreign minister for a meeting on Syria.
"We will not let the appointed to enslave the elected," daily MILLIYET quoted Turkish prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as telling a video conference for a rally of his party in Istanbul, when commenting on a recent probe launched into Turkey's top intelligence officers, the sitting and the former, as well as a former deputy intelligence chief. "In democracies there are clearly drawn lines between the powers of the legislative, judicial and executive branches. We will not let any illegitimacy. No one should foster hopes of chaos," Erdogan said.
"Istanbul to host nuclear bargaining" daily CUMHURIYET headlined as Iran's top diplomat had announced that Iran and P5+1 countries would resume nuclear talks in Istanbul. Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said P5+1 and Iran had agreed on Istanbul as the venue for the talks. Latest round of talks was held in January 2011 but they collapsed without any concrete result.
"Tell us about Syria," daily TURKIYE said when telling a story over an EU invitation for Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to participate in a meeting of his EU counterparts on February 27 over Syria. Davutoglu will participate in the EU Foreign Ministers meeting and he will express his views and explain Turkey's position on crisis in Syria. |
