Iran said that Tehran supports Syria today more than ever because the "majority of Syrians still support the [Syrian] regime," Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi said according to Hezbollah-affiliate Al Manar.

Roknabadi said this support was "proven" despite Western and Arab media attempts to distort the reality on the ground.

Roknabadi denied, however, reports that the Islamic Republic was providing the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad with military support via weapons or personnel in order to suppress protests calling for Assad's ouster, according to the report.
