President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of France-Caucasus Friendship Group, France-Azerbaijan Working Group, member of Centrist and Republican Union at the French Senate, Senator Nathalie Goulet.
The delegation included senators Sylvia Goy-Chavent, Jean-Marie Bockel, Herve Maurey, Andre Reichardt and Jeanny Lorgeoux.
The Head of State thanked Nathalie Goulet and other senators for their just position during discussion of the bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called "Armenian genocide" at the French Senate.
President Aliyev assessed this law discussed at the French Senate as an initiative distorting the history, contradicting freedom of speech and relying on false information, and expressed hope that this law will not come into force.
Nathalie Goulet said she and the senators, who are on a visit to Azerbaijan, will make every effort to boost the relations with Azerbaijan and will provide Azerbaijani public with detailed information on the issue. |
