A strong earthquake has jolted central Philippine islands.

Officials say there was damage to some buildings and at least one person was reported killed in the quake after a wall collapsed on a small child.

A tsunami warning has also been issued.

The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the magnitude at 6.8.

The temblor was also felt in central Cebu city, the country's second largest, where it lasted about 30 seconds.
