Tajikistan Lowers Natural Gas Extraction

Tajikistan decreased the extraction of natural gas by 10.4 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010, Asia-Plus reported on Tuesday. Last year the country extracted about 19 million cubic metres of gas which is 5.6 million cubic metres less than the expected volume.

The total cost of gas produced in Tajikistan exceeded 6.7 million somoni that is 5.8 per cent less than in 2010. The production of oil in Tajikistan hit 28,700 thousand tons in 2011 which is 1500 tons higher than in 2010 and by 163 tons more than was expected. The total cost of oil produced amounted to 27.3 million somoni.

Tajikistan's operating well stock amounted to 156 wells in 2011, 145 of which are oil wells and 11 gas wells.

The official exchange rate is 4.7580 somoni (TJS) per $1.
