ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish dailies covered on their Monday editions Turkish president's remarks on reports that Hamas planned to open an office in Turkey, a draft law presented by a Turkish lawmaker on a former military coup leader, remarks by Turkey head of Azeri state-run oil company on plans to manufacture Turkey's first indigenous car.

esponding to questions over news reports that Hamas planned to open a representation in the Turkish capital, Anakara, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Turkey had had long-standing relations with Hamas and cooperation. "Hamas is a political body that won the elections. We will see in the future where our cooperation would lead us," daily TURKIYE quoted Gul as telling reporters before his departure for the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Sirri Sureyya Onder, a lawmaker with the Peace and Democracy Party, or BDP, has presented a bill to the Turkish parliament to revoke Kenan Evren, head of the military junta that overthrew the government in a 1980 coup, his rights as a former president. Daily RADIKAL said Onder had proposed to cut off his presidential pensions and removed out of the state-protocol.

Turkey CEO of the Azeri state-run oil and natural gas company, Socar, Kenan Yavuz, told daily ZAMAN that manufacturing an indigenous Turkish car would require immense resources. "You would need few more PETKIMs if you want to make a car. The sector needs two most basic inputs: steel and iron and petro-chemicals. If you do not have a say at these two, you can make your own car," Yavuz told the daily.
