Some 300 ralliers are reported arrested overnight in Oakland, CA, after protesters stormed a local building and clashed with police.

Police used force, including teargas, truncheons and sound grenades to disperse a 2,000-strong Occupy Oakland rally.

Protesters had stated they want to occupy the empty Henry Kaiser congress center and to turn it into a social and political center.

Allegedly, when the protesters started damaging the building and nearby facilities, police issued a warning to disperse, and when protesters failed to do so, police officers went on to disperse them by force.

At least 300 protesters have been detained, and 3 police officers have been wounded in the clashes.
