Wednesday, 25 January 2012The U.S. Embassy in Baku reiterates the significance of global and regional threats against U.S. and foreign interests in Azerbaijan following recent press reports that the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry has disrupted a plot, linked to Iran, to kill prominent foreigners in Baku, the Embassy's website reports.
The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that the possibility remains for actions against U.S. or other high-profile foreign interests in Azerbaijan.
U.S. citizens in Azerbaijan should remain vigilant, particularly in public places associated with Western and Israeli communities, the report says. In addition, U.S. citizens should remain constantly aware of their surroundings, mindful about their personal security, and maintain an unpredictable daily schedule.
Azerbaijani National Security Ministry prevented a terror act, which was planned to be committed in Baku, the ministry said last week.
As a result of investigation and search operations the ministry exposed and detained a group of people, accused of preparation for attempt on public figures' life to stop their activities, that is, of organization of terror act, as well as purchase of great number of firearms, ammunition, explosives, equipment. |
