Wednesday, 25 January 2012Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will depart Wedesday afternoon on his first two-day visit to Brussels.
Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov will participate in the delegation, the press office of the head of state said in a statement.
Bulgaria's new President will head for Brussels after Vice President Margarita Popova returns from Germany.
Plevneliev will meet Wednesday evening with Bulgarian MEPs representing different parties in the European Parliament.
On Thursday, the new head of state will meet with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, EP President Martin Schulz, EC President Jose Barroso and Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council.
During the visit, Plevneliev will also hold talks with Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response.
On Thursday afternoon, the new head of state will meet with Bulgarians working in EU institutions.
Vice President Margarita Popova will greet Wednesday the participants in a January 25 conference on protecting the EU's financial interests through fighting fraud which is held in Munich.
