EU is responsible for reckless decisions and conditions for crisis, said the statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry in connection with the recently adopted oil embargo against Iran, Mehr reported.

The European Union banned imports of oil from Iran on Monday and agreed to freeze the assets of Iran's central bank, joining the United States in a new round of measures.

The latest sanctions by the European Union will be fully enforced by July 1. The sanctions on Iran oil is fraught with risks - of rising energy prices and global financial instability.

The main share of European imports of Iranian oil, falls on Greece, Italy and Spain with 68 percent. In Greece, the share of "black gold" consumption reaches 35%.

"Oil embargo against Iran is irrational and unwarranted step. The basic condition for Iran's relations with other countries - is the law and international law. The nuclear program of Iran is completely transparent, is of peaceful nature, and is within the framework of international law," said the statement of the Ministry.
