Israel carried out four airstrikes on the Gaza Strip overnight after Palestinian militants fired about six rockets and mortars over the border over the past week, an Israeli military spokesman said Tuesday, DPA reported.

The targets hit about midnight (2200 GMT Monday) were a building used for making weapons in the central Gaza Strip, two tunnels dug by militants in the north and a third tunnel in the south of the coastal enclave, the spokesman said.

He said Gaza militants had launched three projectiles at southern Israel over the weekend and another one Monday as well as about two more late last week.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
