Kazakhstan Completes all Public Appointments

All public appointments in Kazakhstan have been in general completed and the government starts executing the President's orders, Prime- Minister Karim Massimov said at the government meeting on Thursday.

Following this statement Massimov determined the authorities of his deputies, Prime-Minister's press-service reported.

Massimov said that the first Deputy Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov will be responsible for the issues on economics and regional policy, the program of industrialization, development of industry, energy, tourism and gold mining technical regulation. Moreover, Akhmetov will be engaged in the spheres of agriculture, land and water relations, environment, natural resources, space activities, construction, housing and utilities, transport infrastructure and logistics.

Deputy Prime Minister Erbol Orynbaev will be responsible for education, science, health, social policy, social partnership, culture and sports and development of small and medium enterprises. Moreover, Orynbaev will coordinate interaction of the business community with state agencies, the issues of administrative reform and reduction of administrative barriers, including tax and customs administration. Orynbaev will also be responsible for the projects of World Bank, the European Commission, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.


Deputy Prime Minister Kairat Kelimbetov will be responsible for macroeconomic and fiscal policy. Kelimbetov will coordinate the management of state assets of the financial sector, fiscal and customs policy, the development of public-private partnership and the issue on regulation of natural monopolies. Moreover, Kelimbetov will be responsible for Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO and cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Community (EEC), Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and Common Economic Space of these countries.
