Friday, 20 January 2012Bulgarians will enjoy the same income level as Greeks after 30 years in EU, Danish Ambassador to Bulgaria Kaare Janson assured on Friday.
Janson's optimism has been fueled by the Bulgarian government's responsible fiscal policy.
"I believe the reason why Greeks have higher incomes that Bulgarians, Romanians and other new EU members is that Greece joined the EU 30 years ago and has been able to make use of the advantages of its membership," the Danish diplomat pointed out, as cited by the BGNES news agency.
Janson stated that dealing with the euro zone debt crisis will be among the main tasks of his country's EU Presidency, adding that most of the Danish efforts will be towards stimulating economic growth in the bloc.
The Danish EU Presidency is in favor of Bulgaria and Romania's Schengen accession, the Ambassador reiterated. He confirmed that the Danish EU Presidency will continue Iceland and Turkey's EU accession negotiations.
