Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary Discuss Nabucco Project |

Thursday, 19 January 2012Representatives from Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria are discussing Nabucco gas pipeline project, designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the European countries, on Thursday in Vienna.
"A formal meeting between economy ministers of Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Austria is taking place today in Vienna, the main subject of discussion is Nabucco," Economy, Trade and Business Environment Ministry of Romania wrote Trend in an e-mail.
According to the Romanian Ministry's statement, the Bulgarian Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traycho Traykov, Romanian Economy, Trade and Business Environment Minister Ion Ariton, Austrian Economy Minister Reinhold Mitterlehne and Deputy State Secretary at the Hungarian National Development Ministry Pal Kovacs attend the meeting.
The current state of Nabucco project and the further steps in its implementation are being discussed at the meeting.
Romanian Minister Ariton will also meet with Austrian OMV CEO Gerhard Roiss.
Nabucco gas pipeline is one of the proposed projects within the Southern gas Corridor.
Construction of the Nabucco project is planned to start in 2013 and the first supplies are scheduled for 2017. The total length of the pipeline is 3,900 kilometers with a maximum capacity of 31 billion cubic meters per year. The project's partners include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and the German RWE.
Gas which will be produced during the second stage of Shah Deniz field development is considered as the main source for Nabucco project. |
